Bioreactors for Clean Coffee EffluentAs part of the coffee post-harvest processing operations, coffee fruit is pulped and washed to obtain parchment. This process results in the discharge of effluents that is rich in organic content. This effluent, if treated in bioreactors, can be utilized to generate biogas. The sludge can be used as a source of nutrients in the plantation thereby reducing the use of inorganic fertilizers.

The purpose of this project is to ensure that by the end of the project period, non-formal industries in Karnataka and Kerala are, on a sustained basis, installing and operating efficient fuel wood utilization devices after procuring them through a normal market mechanism.

Energy/Resources From Solid WasteReduction in the volume and mass of solid waste is a crucial issue especially in the light of limited availability of final disposal sites in many parts of the world. Anaerobic digestion of wastes can provide substantial solutions both in energy generation as well as in environmentally sound byproduct recovery and waste treatment. Due to its integrative potential, it could emerge as a key technology contributing to sustainable development.

Technical Training Of Women For Income Generation Through Appropriate Technological InterventionsThe poverty of women has many manifestations-not just meagre incomes but also lack of literacy and training. There are differences in living and health conditions, advancement opportunities etc. This project is a small effort in raising the all round status of women. It seeks to create employment for rural women by introducing them to new and relevant technology.

Establishment of low-cost facility for the preservation and processing of fruits and vegetables in Kolar for womenTIDE has been executing this project under the financial support of CAPART. This project involves the setting up of a low cost facility for the processing and preservation of fruits and vegetables. The processing facility has been set up in Minjenahalli village in Mulbagal taluk. The Grameena Mahila Okkuta, a rural based women's organization in the village is associated with TIDE in this project.

Women's Entrepreneurship in the small scale dehydration of fruits and vegetablesThis was a new area of work for TIDE in the area of food processing and has tremendous potential for income generation for rural women. The objectives of this project were to understand the demand for dried fruits and vegetables, develop and standardize the drying protocol for all marketable dried products, develop new marketable dried product, set up production units in the premises of rural based women's organizations and to set up marketing channels for the same.

Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water MissionTIDE is one of the organizations which has been selected to prepare groundwater prospect maps for some of the problematic villages in Karnataka State under the purview of this Mission funded by The Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Government of India. The objective of the project is to prepare groundwater prospects maps for the problematic villages.

Groundwater Utilisation Survey of Bangalore City and Its NeighborhoodThis project undertaken for Bangalore Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Master Plan (BWSESMP), Government of Karnataka to aid in the decision making processes for planning and management of water resources in Bangalore City and its neighbourhood area. TIDE prepared the urban landuse maps and other database containing attribute information like ward no, ward name, type of well, quantity of water usage, type of pump used etc.

Processing of Remote Sensing data for BMRDA AreaThis project undertaken for Bangalore Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation Master Plan (BWSESMP), Government of Karnataka to aid in the decision making processes for planning and management of water resources for BMRDA region. The database is on 1:50,000 scale and contain attribute information on landuse type, groundwater prospects, slope class, villagewise census information etc. for the above region.

Papagni WatershedThe Papagni Watershed project was carried out for the National Tree Grower's Co-operative Federation, Anand, which is a division of National Dairy Development Board, Anand, Gujarat to understand the natural resource information in the watershed. We prepared the various thematic maps and village-wise census information for the entire watershed. |
