Geographic Information System for Dharwad

TIDE has prepared a village level GIS Database for the two taluks of district of Dharwad, Karnataka. The database contains various thematic maps with attribute information like type of landuse, groundwater prospects maps, villagewise census information etc.

 

 

Geographic Information System For Sathyanagar Layout

GIS for Sathyanagar layout contains parcel level data and socio-economic mapping for details like Population, Occupation, Income, Use Of Space etc. This project included the preparation of a base-map at 1:1500 containing parcel level data.

 

 

Development of GIS Applications for the Department of Health Services and the Department of Sericulture in Kolar District

This project, supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST), aims at developing GIS based support systems and, recommendation on fertilizer usage in the parcels of selected farmers.

 

 

User need assessment-systems study of Information flow in Kolar District

This project is aimed at developing Information Systems and decision support systems which would aid the Departments of Sericulture and health for better decision making.

 

 

Geographic Information System for BMRDA

TIDE has set up a GIS center at Bangalore Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (BMRDA) to enable it to plan more effectively the growth of Bangalore.

 

 

Bidar Health Information System

TIDE has prepared a GIS on infrastructural facilities for health centers in Bidar district situated in the Northern region of Karnataka.

 

 

Urban Governance, Civil Society and Local Economic Development

Phase I: A study of 7 cities of Karnataka (namely Madikeri, Ramnagaram, Mangalore, Udupi, Hubli-Dharwad, Shimoga and Gokak) has been carried out, to identify the role of citizens and other stockholders in governance, in terms of obtaining the services or in finding solutions to the problems (1999).
Phase 2: This is more action-oriented, with an objective to use and propagate various interventions and action research tools for efficient urban governance by actively working with the community at the ward level. Mangalore and Udupi cities have been identified for the Phase 2 project being implemented during April 2000 to March 2002.

 

 

Technology Intervention Program For Poverty alleviation in Nagasandra Village, Mulbagal Taluk, Kolar District , Karnataka

The Nagasandra village in Kolar District of Karnataka has been identified for implementation of the technology intervention programme during November 1999 – October 2002. The criteria for selecting this village were socio economic backwardness, lack of avenues for socio-economic development. The main objective of the project is to bring about a qualitative and quantitative change in the village through the intervention of simple and relevant technologies. To achieve this, the following areas have been identified for intervention like Desilting of Village pond, Improved Agricultural practices, Initiation of Nursery and Introduction of Village Industry in the Village. 

 

 

Rain Water Harvesting

Water is a scarce natural resource in most regions of India. Water from perennial sources is piped over long distances to urban areas where utilization efficiencies are low. Collection, storage and efficient use of rainwater can reduce the cost of public water supply.
