Eco friendly coffee - The bioreactor benefit

In order to overcome the pollution of the stream close to his house, during processing of coffee, Mr. Steven Rebello opted for the bioreactor type of treatment system, conceived at the centre for ASTRA, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and developed by TIDE.

Mr. Rebello is happy about the whole system because he has been able to generate revenue from the biogas and compost. In addition, his coffee is now eco friendly as there is no pollution of the environment!



Little drops of water! - Rainwater harvesting

Rainwater harvesting to collect and reuse the rainwater falling on the rooftop, paved and unpaved areas in the campus of AISIN NTTF was one of first projects implemented by TIDE.







Women create a better life for themselves - Ratnamma's story

Opportunity came Ratnamma's way when she was introduced to the training Programme for construction of household smokeless stoves conducted by TIDE for women’s groups promoted by DPG (Development Promotion Group) Kudligi! DPG helped her to get orders for stove construction and in a short period of 4 months she has constructed over 50 stoves.



The Bengre Experience

This project in Bengre, a small ward in Mangalore included problems such as the absence of title deeds for the property that they were occupying, inadequate disposal systems (solid waste) and contaminated drinking water. The TIDE team created awareness among the local community and Mangalore city corporation about the situation and brought the corporator and the concerned persons to the community through the jana samparka sabha.

John Fowler Pvt. Ltd. in Bommasandra Industrial Area, Bangalore, has implemented the rainwater harvesting system in their industrial establishments. The initiative taken by Mr. R.L.Kumar with the support from the Company has been giving excellent benefits to the company's water woes.
