WOMEN AND LIVELIHOOD

Options for combining house work, work as agricultural labour and options to provide additional income for rural women are very limited.  TIDE has tried to create income generating options for women with innovative technologies and dissemination strategies. Appreciating the reality that women's groups  need time and confidence to approach financial institutions for loans service and trade oriented livelihood options that require limited financial resources have also been developed.

Some successful livelihood options demonstrated are fish drying, cashew processing, household stove construction, vermi composting from coconut waste, production of dried fruits and vegetables
