Project: Training on Sarala stove construction under the IREPFunded by: Integrated Rural Energy ProgrammeDuration: Short term coursesTIDE has worked on many projects involving creation of different strategies for dissemination of improved household stoves. One of the dissemination strategies that has gained acceptance is training women in improved stove construction and using trained women as agents of stove dissemination. To further this dissemination strategy, TIDE conducted a training program where rural women were trained as master trainers. This decentralized approach to household stove dissemination was presented to the various officers of the Integrated Rural Energy Programme (IREP). The IREP routinely requests TIDE for training programs to be conducted in Sarala stove construction. The training programs are organized by TIDE using the trained women as trainers. TIDE has conducted 5 training programs for IREP. These have been well received and more requests for training are coming in from other states as well. The training program is spread over 3 days and it is a combination of theory and practicals in stove construction. More such training programs would establish the gender friendly household stove dissemination strategy evolved by TIDE and ensure that good quality stoves are delivered to the end users in rural areas.
