Promotion Of Energy Efficient Charaka Stoves - Andhra Pradesh

The project activities in Andhra Pradesh commenced during April 2002. Diffusion of the improved ovens is being carried out in the clusters of Hindupur, Dharmavaram and Kadiri in Anantapur district. Mechanisms for production, transportation and construction have been developed in all the clusters. By November 2002, 234 ovens have been installed in user locations. The ovens are being installed in active consultation with the Department of Sericulture, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The installed ovens have the potential to conserve about 500 MTs of biofuel per annum with saving on biofuels to the extent of Rs.6 lakhs per annum.
